Paying all my bills in one debt settlement us arrange all your bills in to one afford bill?

Who should I talk to about debt settlement and whether or not bankruptcy is my best option?
My ratios are currently way out of whack, mostly due to the slumping housing market and other factors. My credit cards are maxed out and making the monthly payments is killing my cashflow. I also have a property tax bill that is due and I'm scrambling trying to figure out how to pay it. I need to speak with someone, I'm just not sure where to start. I do not currently have a relationship with a financial advisor, and due to the sensitivity of my problem I don't want to ask anyone for advice or for a reference. Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated as I need to address this right away.

Does debt settlement really work as advertised, I have a lot of debt.?

Is debt settlement a good option or is it just a ripoff?
I see commercials all the time about debt settlement but is it just a scam? Has anyone ever used this type of program and if so, what were your results? Thanks

Can anyone personally recommend a debt settlement company that actually works?
Does anyone have personal experience with a debt settlement company and was it successful?

Can anybody recommend a legitimate debt settlement companY?

How good is debt settlement over debt consolidation? Is it a more reliable method? ?
What I am interested to know is if Debt Settlement really works and if you know of anyone who has been through it.

Is it morally wrong to do debt settlement?
I see alot of advertisements for debt settlement where a company charges you a fee but then gets your unsecured debts settled for partial of what you would have to pay them off as. Is it morally wrong to default on your cards for three months then have a debt settlement for less than what you would have to pay if you are way, way in over your head?

Is it better to complete a debt settlement program or to file bankruptcy?
I lost my job in early September and have run into some serious financial problems. I have a part time job and I should be receiving unemployment but they denied me at first and I have to wait for a hearing to appeal that decision, and they are super backed up and I will not even find out when my hearing is for another four weeks. I took out a distribution from my 401k, went through that, and they are taking their sweet time getting another distribution sent out to me. None of my accounts have been sent to collections yet, but they are almost there. I am considering bankruptcy or using one of those companies that negotiates better interest rates with my creditors and gets them to reduce my debt by up to 40%. I want to know which route I will recover from quicker. I eventually want to buy a house, take out student loans, etc. I keep hearing that bankruptcy is not as bad as it has been made out to be, and I have heard nothing about how debt settlement programs effect your credit. Does anyone have any advice?

Is it possible to not use a debt settlement co. if you haven't signed any papers yet?
I agreed to use a certain company over the phone but now regret that decision. They are sending paperwork so I haven't signed anything yet. I would rather settle the debts on my own. Does anyone know if I can back out of this situation? Thanks

What are the pros and cons in dealing with a debt settlement company. ?
Is this a good idea to do?could there be other options?

HELP! Debt Settlement?
Hi, just a few questions to anyone who knows anything about debt settlement. Please answer seriously. Thanks in advance My husband and I racked up a lot of credit card debt. I would say around $30,000 to $40,000. It got to the point where we couldn't make our minimum payments. What can I say? We were pretty stupid Anyways, we started with Care One Debt Consolidation. They wanted a payment of $800 month. This was a lot for us on top of our other bills car payments, insurance, etc. but not too bad because we were not married yet and still living at home with my mom I just turned 20 by the way. In March of this year, we got married and I got a better job so that we could afford to move out just barely afford to move out. Now, with rent and electricity and everything else, we can't make the huge $800 payment for the debt consolidation. My husband he is 26 just got his hours cut back due to the winter and the struggling economy. We missed last months payment and called Care One back to see what we could do. They recommended Persels and Associates, LLC to us supposedly through Care One as well. They took down our salaries and then subtracted everything that we have to pay every month.Turns out that we can pay $240 a month now. They said that this goes into an escrow account and they negotiate with the creditors to settle. They said that this will take 4 years. Before, I was paying the $800 per month and they said that would also take four years....So I guess if my math is correct, then I will be paying out $11,520 with Percel and Associates as oppossed to $38,400 with the debt consolidation plan.I know it will effect my husbands credit, but how bad?Is this the same as bankruptcy?I know that they take fees out of your money....that is okay with me as long as it all works out in the end. We can't make the payments now, so I guess it's no different????Anyone heard of this Persels and Associates, LLC?I heard that you can get sued by the credit card companies.....is this true?Anything else you can tell me? I need some much needed advice.Credit is a big deal I know, but my husband is still young we are not planning on buying a house anytime soon or getting any more credit cards with large balances. We now have $560 extra dollars per month that we can put towards savings, paying down our cars, etc. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much for listening. I am so confused and need some major insight.
